Barnett Waddingham comes top in Professional Pensions Administration Survey once again

The Professional Pensions Administration Survey 2021 has revealed Barnett Waddingham has come out top for the second year running as the best third-party administrator for pension schemes.

Barnett Waddingham was given the top accolade after data was gathered from respondents in the public and private sectors, and across a range of different scheme types.

Survey participants were asked to rate third-party administrators which they had experience of. Professional Pensions then calculated a weighted satisfaction score based on a range of factors.

The survey ranked administrators across eight areas and Barnett Waddingham came top in seven of those. These included the three areas deemed most important by respondents - data accuracy, reliability, and good customer service. Barnett Waddingham also ranked top for flexibility, innovation, technical support, and technology.

"The fact we have achieved this top award for a second year running is a source of great pride for all of us at Barnett Waddingham. It is incredibly gratifying particularly as the survey included many of our existing clients among the pension professionals who took part. While we are happy to take the plaudits for coming top, we certainly won't be resting on our laurels. Our ethos of delivering excellent services for our clients is embedded at all levels of the company and it is this which will continue to drive our future successes."

About the survey

The 2021 Professional Pensions Administration Survey is designed to track industry attitudes towards both in-house and outsourced pension scheme administration.

The overall aim of this research was to measure the different experiences of schemes using in-house and outsourced administration functions.

A total of 328 pension professionals in the UK responded to an online survey, which ran from March to April 2021. Overall, 49% described their occupation as a trustee and 23% were pension scheme administrators or managers. The remainder of respondents’ occupations included CEOs, financial directors and HR directors and managers.

The majority of respondents (81%) were responsible for defined benefit (DB) schemes, with the next greatest proportion (9%) managing defined contribution (DC) schemes. Other scheme types, such as hybrid schemes and group personal pension schemes, make up the remainder of those represented in the survey.
