Andrew joined Barnett Waddingham in 2023 to head up the ILC Technology Services offering.

This entails having a key focus on software & technology and how they can improve the process and user experience for our clients when it comes to their Actuarial needs. Having developed models from both a vendor and client perspective Andrew has a unique insight into what constitutes a good solution in the short, medium and long term and whether the solution is fit for purpose.

Andrew's main area of expertise are:

  • Actuarial modelling – regulatory and business planning requirements
  • Systems and Process efficiency – from data to disclosure

Clients

Many insurers from small to large multinational, all need to do modelling and projections of their business. Also dealt with pension providers and some GI focused companies too due to crossover of technology and processes.

  • IFRS17 model implementation lead – Large UK insurer
  • SII Iimplementation lead – Scandinavian Group
  • Risk model with US standard code implementation
  • SII Aggregation for Italian multinational/multi layered company
  • Conversion of over 20 internal clients from 1 solution to new replacement solution

Career

Andrew's worked in the Insurance world for nearly 24 years starting in industry as a graduate before moving to focus on software implementation. This then expanded to include sales as well as client and product management for a range of providers before switching to consulting to allow his independence when it comes to the software utilised. Prior to BW, Andrew was at a smaller consulting firm as a Client Partner for two years looking to bring on new clients and focus on financial transformation opportunities.

Interests

Outside of work Andrew is more into watching than partaking in sports but does enjoy mountain biking and road cycling when he gets the opportunity. He has a keen interest in football which includes managing his son's u15 team. He enjoys watching many forms of motorsport and has taken part in a few track days. His family takes up much of his time, so he enjoys relaxing in front of a good sci-fi film or comedy. Given the chance to travel, Andrew prefers to be active and find local history or culture rather than lazing on a beach – unless he can find a great book and a bit of shade.
