Christine Kerr FPMI

Principal and Senior Pension Management Consultant

Christine is one of BW's senior governance specialists. She leads teams who provide governance services and projects to clients and supports the development of best practice in BW. Her specialist interest is the management of large £1bn+ schemes, though she is keen to point out that good governance has always been  essential to schemes of all sizes, even before the General Code. She is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute “PMI” and holds their award in Pension Trusteeship.

An enthusiastic advocate of the skills and value of scheme secretaries/pension managers and pension executive teams. These are skilled, specialist roles which provide diverse and interesting careers and are in ever-greater demand. She really enjoys the people aspects of her role, building trusted relationships and quite simply loves her job.

Christine has contributed to the industry as a member of the PMI Advisory council and chairman of their Risk & Audit Committee.

Her articles and briefings have appeared in industry publications such as Professional Pensions, AMNT publications and the PMI Pension Aspects magazine, as well as on the Barnett Waddingham website.

She is a qualified coach holding an ILM Level 7 Certificate for Executive and Senior level Coaching and Mentoring.

Significant experience

  • Managing outsourced pension manager/governance/trustee executive services teams of several people delivering all operational and governance aspects of large, complex schemes of £1bn +. This includes supporting sub-committees, providing trustee secretarial services, managing of and successful collaboration with advisers, financial/risk management and oversight of projects.
  • General consulting and scheme management services to full services clients.
  • Providing bespoke governance projects e.g. adviser reviews, assessing governance structure and documents, trustee effectiveness.
  • Building and coaching successful teams.
  • On-site secondments.
  • Financial and risk management e.g. scheme budgets and risk management frameworks.
  • Member communications.
