Gillian is a life and health insurance practising certificate holder and is the Chief Actuary for a small insurer. She has a wealth of experience, covering pricing, reporting and reinsurance, bringing insight and value to our clients. 

Gillian has a wide range of actuarial expertise gained from working with a number of insurers and reinsurers and is skilled in conveying complex actuarial information in an accessible way, including presentation to relevant stakeholders such as company boards. Alongside her Chief Actuary responsibilities, Gillian is also a valued participant in Audit, Risk and Investment committees which benefit from her knowledge of Solvency II and UKGAAP reporting for life insurers, and reinsurance experience from both the pricing and reserving side.

Career

Gillian joined Barnett Waddingham in 2023. She has been the Chief Life Actuary for Covea Life since 2019 and will continue that role at Barnett Waddingham. Before Covea, Gillian worked in Life and Health Reinsurance. She has worked in both pricing and reserving with roles at GE, Swiss Re and SCOR. Gillian qualified as a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2007.

Interests

Outside of work Gillian enjoys running and has done a sub-four hour marathon, although these days she is more of a 5km runner. She loves to bake when she find the time. The rest of her spare time is spent facilitating her daughters’ social lives.
