Kunal is a consulting actuary, providing advice to a range of trustees and sponsors of defined benefit pension schemes to effectively manage their risks. As an experienced client account manager, he also provides wider support to help trustees fulfil their duties.

His primary responsibilities are in relation to trustee clients where he builds strong relationships and tailors his approach and advice to help them navigate their specific circumstances.

Kunal also specialises in matters related to pension scheme mortality, undertaking analyses for trustees to appropriately set their mortality assumptions and also helping clients understand and manage their longer-term longevity risk as part of a wider risk management strategy.

Kunal provides actuarial support to a number of trustee clients ranging in size from £10m to over £150m, while also advising both domestic and overseas corporate clients. He has worked closely with both lay trustees and professional trustees as well as a sole corporate trustee arrangement. 


Significant experience

  • Supporting trustees with their scheme funding valuations and setting long-term strategy.
  • Helping trustees set appropriate terms for member options, taking into account the interests of all stakeholders. undertaking analyses for clients to appropriately assess their mortality assumptions and longevity risk.
  • Advice and project management support in relation to liability management and other complex benefit exercises. providing advice on PPF levies and mitigation options such as certification of deficit reduction contributions.
  • Advising sponsors of UK and overseas arrangements on their pension scheme accounting including IAS19 and FRS102.
  • Providing governance and secretarial support.

Other expertise

Kunal is a member of the firm’s 'Longevity for Pension Schemes' network, providing specialist support, training and tools to help the wider actuarial team keep abreast of current industry developments. Kunal also supports the firm’s pensions actuarial technical committee.
